Howard has taught Spanish and English at Northwood, and coached the Crew, since 2005, and currently serves as chair of the Foreign Language Department. He rowed on the varsity lightweight crew at Yale and graduated with a B.A. in philosophy. His master’s degree is in film. Before coming to Northwood, he worked as a copy editor and spent four years coaching men’s and women’s crews at the University of Chicago.
