Mission Statement

 

Northwood School fosters growth in young people so that they may engage their world and lead lives of consequence.

Northwood School is a coeducational, independent boarding school in Lake Placid, New York offering a semester-based college preparatory curriculum for students in grades 9 through 12, plus a post-graduate year. Northwood’s student body is comprised of 190 students from 24 countries and 21 states, 85% of whom live on campus. In addition to the school’s traditional college prep curriculum, Northwood offers several Signature Academic Programs such as Peak Pathways, Advanced Research in STEM and Humanities,  L.E.A.P. (Learn, Engage, Apply, and Perform) program, an Entrepreneurship course. Beyond the classroom, Northwood offers students competitive athletic programs and co-curricular programs in arts, music, outdoor recreation, community service, and robotics. All of our programs are designed to provide students with a well-rounded educational experience, allowing them to find success at college and beyond.
