Stephen Mallaro

Stephen is a 2006 graduate of Northwood School. He was the team captain on the first team to reach 40 wins under coach Mark Morris. Stephen has had an extensive coaching career following a successful collegiate career at Oswego State University and minor pro career. He began coaching at Manhattanville College, earning a master’s degree in Sport Business Management. He then joined the College at Brockport for two seasons before being hired at King’s College as the first head coach in program history. Most recently, Stephen was the head coach at the Albany Academy Prep School.
Casey Boone
Assistant Coach Boys’ Prep Hockey

Casey Boone, an Albany, NY native, joins Northwood School with seven years of coaching experience. Casey spent five years as an Assistant Coach at Albany Academy, where he helped oversee the development and advancement of numerous student-athletes to the junior and collegiate levels.
Casey also spent three seasons as the Goaltending Coach at Hamilton College. During his time with the Continentals, he worked with All-American and NESCAC Defensive Player of the Year Charlie Archer, as well as NCAA Division III All-Tournament MVP Aksel Reid, helping the program capture a National Championship.
Jeff Miller
Head Coach Boys’ 18U AAA Hockey

Born and raised in the Boston area, Jeff attended Reading Memorial High School before embarking on a post graduate year at Phillips Andover Academy. Jeff went on to attend Dartmouth College, where he was a four-year letterman and assistant captain of the ice hockey team. Jeff graduated in 1990 with a B.A. in History.
After playing professional hockey in Europe, Jeff pursued a career in finance where he worked for JPMorgan, FBR Capital Markets, and Guggenheim Partners. Jeff also coached hockey as the assistant coach for Reading High School and as a head coach in the New England Fall Prep School League. Jeff joined the Northwood School’s faculty in 2018 and assumed the Director of Financial Aid responsibilities in 2020. In addition to his work in the admission office, Mr. Miller is a teacher in the Peak Pathways, Finance program and coaches the Boys’ 18U team.
Tommy Spero
Assistant Coach Boys’ 18U AAA Hockey

Originally from Larchmont, New York, Tommy joins Northwood School for his first season as a boys’ hockey coach. In addition to his coaching responsibilities, he serves as the Weekend Activities Coordinator, Dorm Parent, and Student Advisor, contributing to Northwood’s mission of developing well-rounded student-athletes both on and off the ice. Tommy is also engaged to Franny Gerardi, who coaches the women’s 19u program at Northwood.
Before arriving at Northwood, He played junior hockey in California and Maine, experiences that deepened his passion for the game and his understanding of athlete development. Over the past five years, he has worked as a skills coach with Erik Nates Euro Hockey, specializing in skating, shooting, and overall player performance.
Most recently, he served as an assistant coach for the Manhattanville University women’s hockey team, where he supported the program in both player development and team strategy. He is currently completing his bachelor’s degree in Business at SUNY Canton.
Justin Felhaber
Head Coach Boys’ 16U Hockey

Justin is a proud Northwood alum (Class of 2014) from Pembroke, Ontario and will be teaching English and coaching hockey. After playing junior hockey for three years with the Pembroke Lumber Kings in the CCHL, he attended Hamilton College in Clinton, NY (Class of 2021). Justin received a B.A. in English Literature and served as a captain of the Men’s Hockey Team during his time at Hamilton. Away from the classroom and the rink, he spends his free time playing guitar, golfing, and hiking with friends.
Michael DiMascolo
Assistant Coach Boys’ 16U Hockey

Michael is from Rhode Island and joins Northwood as a statistics teacher, hockey coach, and team dean for the hockey program. A graduate of St. George’s School, he went on to play two years of junior hockey before continuing his career at Connecticut College, where he also earned his degree in economics and finance. Outside of the classroom and rink, Michael can often be found playing guitar or out on the golf course.
