“As Northwood School launches the fourth year of Peak Pathways, we are excited to create stronger connections between our students and Northwood’s vibrant alumni network.”

 

Through Peak Pathways, students design and complete a transformative year-long independent study inspired by an interest, question, skill, or future aspiration. In recent years, students have earned professional credentials in real estate and personal training, worked toward private pilot licenses, launched successful businesses, and built a 17-foot cedar-strip canoe by hand. They have also constructed an outdoor ice rink, managed social media channels, written and performed original music, created films, conducted research, and developed projects that serve their communities.

We invite Northwood alumni to share their knowledge, experience, and connections as Peak Pathways mentors. Mentoring can be shaped around your expertise, interests, and availability. It might involve one meaningful conversation, occasional feedback, or an ongoing relationship with a student. Even a small investment of time can open a door, strengthen a project, or help a student imagine a future they had not previously considered.

ALUMNI MENTORS MIGHT:

 

 

  • Participate in an informational interview about their career, professional journey, or learning experiences.
  • Connect a student with relevant people, organizations, resources, or opportunities.
  • Offer a brief job-shadowing experience or, when appropriate, an internship.
  • Provide feedback on a student’s ideas, plans, or work products.
  • Serve as a thought partner as a student navigates questions and challenges.
  • Recommend books, podcasts, courses, professional organizations, or thought leaders.
  • Develop an ongoing mentoring relationship with a student whose interests align with their experience.
