What is the Northwood Steward Initiative?

Northwood School, like all small independent boarding schools, is being impacted by the unprecedented changes transforming our society and world. This reality has led us to create the Northwood Steward Initiative.

The Initiative has three components: Mentorship, Ambassador Work, Philanthropy. Each component supports the school’s mission and helps the school’s educational program, connecting with alumni and prospective students, and financially supporting the long term finacial health of the school.

The first is Mentorship. Northwood Mentors will help our students engage in in our PEAK Pathways learning model. The model is a year-long, self- directed learning experience for our upper level students. Northwood’s real-world mentors will use their specific skill set and knowledge to bolster this new educational initiative.

The second component is Ambassador work. Northwood ambassadors will communicate with all of its constituencies. They will help admissions by identifying gifted students/recruits and encourage them to apply. Ambassadors will also share the good news of the school with their network of Northwood alums, parents and friends, and in turn reconnect the school with the extended Northwood Family.

The final component is Philanthropy – the core of the Northwood Fund. The work is critical because the Northwood Fund impacts every student and their educational experience. Northwood’s Philanthropic Stewards ensure that the school provides the best education possible in a financially sustainable model. They lead through their generosity and inspire others to give to the school with the goal of delivering a Northwood world class education.
